To distract myself from dreaded school, I've been stuffing myself with snacks in lectures and on the bus. And to complete it, my cravings are getting rather absurd.

After watching a Channel U food show hosted by Kym Ng(I forgot the name), the one desert that caught my attention was:

WARM CHOCOLATE CAKE

It's warm(duh) and the chocolate fudge spills out when you cut the cake. Golly.
And this has officially been added to my list of cravings. Top spot!
I WANT TO EAT IT!!! I'll marry anyone who buys it for me!

BROWNIES

My usual favourite.
Just discovered NUS has one place with brownie and ice cream.
Warm and soft chocolate brownie combined with cold vanilla ice cream. Yummy. All for a mere 3 bucks. I could eat that for lunch forever.

MALTESERS

Anyone who knows me will know that I love this brand. Now they even carry the Dark Chocolate ones. My fave pig-out snack during lectures. Ser, remember our bet? Hehe.

Seems like I'm gonna put on the pounds from all these cravings.
The more I can't eat them, the more I'll eat other junk food to compensate my taste buds. Someone help me! *hint*

And who said eating chocolate was bad?

"Dark chocolate has antioxidant properties, which can actually help to protect the body from damaging oxidative stress. It appears that adding milk to the chocolate cancels out the antioxidant effects, according to a study published in the journal Nature. Researchers suggested that proteins in the milk bind with the antioxidants, making them less easily absorbed by the body."

So guys, eat DARK chocolate. Healthy and tasty. :)

My fave days of the week are here.
The WEEKEND!

And yesterday, Chin and I did something out of impulse.
We caught a movie, finally! And a MIDNIGHT movie at that.
My virgin midnight movie. *proud of myself*
Both of us went in smelling of BBQ after the BizCom BBQ earlier that night.
Our choice: Jackie Chan's New Police Story.
Well, both of us didn't fall asleep despite being very tired so that kinda speaks volume of the show's quality.
Not too bad actually, lots of action(typical) and humour.
Nicholas Tse was surprisingly funny and Chin was roaring in laughter.

Was doing some serious thinking in the shower just now.
I really admire people who are not affected by the pressures of society and those who dare to be different.
Which is why I loved this poem.

THE ROAD NOT TAKEN
by Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

And after reading Kar's blog, she got me thinking about the Fate issue.
For me, I do believe in fate.
Fate plays a vital role in the people you meet.
Think about it, there are trillions of people in the world, you don't just establish friendships with just anyone. You require the opportunity to meet them, in the right place at the right time.
And it's not just about the meeting, you need the affinity with each other to build a relationship.
Take me for example, I have friends in the same class with me for 6 consecutive years in Primary School, but that doesn't mean that I will be friends with them.
And when I say friends, I mean close friends and not just mere acquaintances.
Most of my 208 buddies are in the same class as me for 2 years and some even just one year.
So you don't have to take into account how long you know the person, if you have affinity with each other, both of you will just naturally click.

My parents always say that friends are not everlasting. When you find your partner and get settled down, you will naturally distance yourself from your friends.
But I don't believe in that.
Just as a tree is being grown firmly rooted in the ground, it will remain as long as you choose not to uproot it.
So if you make a conscious effort to keep in contact, no matter what, the friendship will still remain.

And having said that, I hope it would be FOREVER FRIENDS with many of my buddies.

I can never anticipate that my next post would be announcing the END of the Mid Term Break.

Why do leisure time always zoom by?
I don't feel even the slightest bit of being rejuvenized by these 6 days of break.
Hmmm actually honestly speaking, there wasn't much of a break anyway.

Saturday - BizCom Bash.
Monday - Sirius BBQ.
Thursday - Blading with Ser and Chin.

And the days in between, I was either sleeping like a pig, being a super duper couch potato or just plain slacking around the house.

All that about the week's resolution is all *poof*.
-Blade like crazy
(erm i did, but not on the crazy level)
-Drink lotsa Earl Grey and chill out
(I didn't even drink a single sip!)
-Read some novels
(erm 100 pages of Harry Potter 5?)
-Catch up with school work
(NONE AT ALL! *horrified*)
-Tidy my room
(It's still a mess now)
-Spend some time with my family
(ok i fulfiled roughly 80%)
-Spend some time with my friends
(not really. didn't have the time)

Seems like next time if I ever wanna set resolutions again, I should be more realistic and hardworking.

Can't believe school has started!!!
Why on earth do they start school on a Friday? Why even deprive us of a treasured one day's worth of rest when they have nothing to lose?
They're just a buncha cheater bugs.

And I'm gonna get back the much dreaded Chemistry Test results tomorrow!
Plus a personal consultation with the Professor. Yikes.

Everything's gonna suck now that school has started.
And I can't believe we will be ending Semester 1 in about less than 2 months' time.
The workload is humongous, compared to JC. 5 full modules to ace in about 3 months!
And the cycle continues 6 times till you get your degree.
Who was the idiot that said University life is better than JC?
Well, the only consolation for me is that after Semester 1, I can happily bid farewell to my most dreaded subject ever - CHEMISTRY. *whoops in delight*

I hope to be a freshman forever.
Freshmen are not penalised if we make mistakes.
Freshmen have the right to be ignorant.

Why must we grow up?

This is late, but I still want to say...

Yay! It's the Mid-term Break!

After enduring an intense week, it's finally resting week.
But actually there wasn't much time to slack anyway.

I hope I can:
-Blade like crazy
-Drink lotsa Earl Grey and chill out
-Read some novels
-Catch up with school work
-Tidy my room
-Spend some time with my family
-Spend some time with my friends

Sounds more like a new year's resolution rather than a week's resolution.

Today is such a sucky day.
And this week is gonna be an even more suckier week.

Almost missed the bus today.
Just as I was thanking my lucky stars, the horrible beeping sound reminded me that my EZ link concession expired today.
And to my dismay, there was only this pathetic little 5 cent coin in the coin pouch of my incredibly fat wallet.
So, I had to literally beg around the entire lower deck of the bus for loose changes.

Then all my pens ran out of ink during Math lecture, where that idiotic old man would make us copy and copy non-stop. My mechanical pencil ran out of lead too.
So yeah, I was looking as idiotic as the old man--- stoning during lecture.

And...
I missed the last episode of F.R.I.E.N.D.S!!!
DAMN DAMN DAMN!!! F***!!!
All because I was busy doing my stupid Lab Report.
To hell with all the bacteria.
Give me back my beloved FRIENDS~ *whines*

On a happier note, I got tickets to Jay's concert on the 27th November.
And my exams end on the 27th, so the concert would be my little celebration for my freedom.

Guess for the entire week, I won't be updating.
Need to finish:
- Microbiology Lab Report
- 3 tutorials
- Studying for 2 tests
- Research for group project
All this plus bearing the brunt of a whooping cough and phlegm that never goes away.

I totally cannot comprehend why the lecturers like to squeeze everything into the final week before the mid-term break.
Fatigue us before our break? Or is it just a conspiracy?

And talking about mid-term break, I'm totally looking forward to it.
I want my SOCIAL LIFE back!
I haven't watched a movie in eons. The last one probably was Spiderman 2?
I haven't blade in eons.
I haven't enjoyed a cuppa earl grey in eons.
I haven't shopped in eons.

And having said all this, for me to have the right to enjoy playing during the mid term break, I gotta have to enjoy the pains of hard work now.

The little voice in my head says: "Joyce, it's just 4 more days. Keep pushing."

Happy 19th Birthday to me! :)

Haha.
Am officially 19 years old now. And edging one step closer to the twenties club.
Wanna thank becky/chin/eleanor/hongxuan/jun/kar/lydia/szeman for celebrating it for me.
Haven't met up with you guys for some time and i really miss the KC days.
And this is the day where I laughed so much in the longest time. *winks at eleanor*

Thanks for the sweet card, though everyone wrote for me to get married in 6 years' time, all thanks to a certain person by the surname of gwee.
And the red Adidas jacket! I wanted a jacket for the longest time. :)

Uploaded the pics.
Check under Snapshots> 19th Birthday.

Off to have my sweet dreams.
For once, I don't need chocolate to make me feel happy. *whee*

Friday, September 03, 2004

Woohoo.
It's FRIDAY, end of the week!
Honestly, the weeks fly past and the weekends literally sped past.
But with every week gone, the mid term break approaches. And with the mid term break nearing, the exams are also as near. *terrified*

Happy that I'll be able to meet up with most of the 208s today.
Chunjing, Sze man, Meijun, Lydia, Hongxuan, Eleanor, Becky, Karmene, Chin, maybe Xiaoqing and Charmaine. And surprisingly, Geraldine! Haven't seen that crazy one for years!

Heard from a source that Jay may be coming down for a concert on 27th Nov!
My exams end on that day so I can go in peace, worry-free.
Hope that piece of news is true. Jay, here I come!

And my crush for Michael Phelps is getting worse.
I adore him so much! And respect him a lot too for that generous act of giving up his position in the relay team to Ian Crocker.
Seriously, which 19 year old, who needs to show himself and is peaking, would give up the chance to shine yet again?
Oooh, My HERO~

All smiles at his first gold in Athens, he cried tears of joy too. Though he wanted to exceed Spitz's record of 8 golds in a tournament, he was actually very contended just to have one gold.

Oooh. Sexy hottie. Shed that towel of yours!

Am contemplating if I should make a layout with dearie Phelps.
Problem is I don't have a great nice picture of him and seems to be out of point.
And I shouldn't take down my Jay. Oh man.

Just hit me that I'm gonna be 19 soon. And about to join the twenties club very soon.
And with that, a lot of considerations come through.
Yesterday angie, ser and me had a discussion about marriage.
It suddenly dawned on me that we're actually nearing the age to settle down.
It just felt so WEIRD. I mean, imgaine 6 years down the road, you see your friends walking down the aisle. I would feel happy but it just hasn't gone through my head.
Right now all we need to do is study hard.
And it doesnt help that Mum is forever asking about that certain someone(yeah I told her about him) and speaking as if we're already together.

Cut that out. I wanna FOCUS. I wanna be a single happy individual.
